GOI Peace Foundation Essay

The GOI foundation essay was created to combine the energy, creativity, and initiative of young persons to advance the tradition of peace and sustainable development. It also has the objective to inspire society to learn from youths how the world can be a better place.

The GOI Peace Foundation is committed to promoting a stable and peaceful society by encouraging consciousness, values, and wisdom for creating peace, and building cooperation among individuals and organizations across diverse fields, including education, science, culture, and the arts.

Guidelines for the GOI Peace Foundation Essay

The essay has two categories: the children category for ages up to 14 and Youth category for ages 15 – 25

Essays submitted must at least 700 words or less these languages: English, French, Spanish, German, or Japanese. Essays may be typed or printed.

Entries may be submitted online or by postal mail.

Essays must be original and unpublished. Plagiarized entries will be rejected.

One person must write essays. Co-authored essays are not accepted.

How to Apply for the GOI Peace Foundation Essay

Write an Essay with this theme:

“A Letter from Myself in 2030”

Imagine what an ideal world ten years from now would be like. Write a letter from yourself in 2030 to your present (2020) self, in which you describe the state of the world, the way people are living, and what you, yourself, are doing in society. Also, include any important message that you might wish to tell your present self.

The essay can be submitted online or by postal mail.

Entries submitted by postal mail must include a cover page with your name, category age, gender, nationality, address, email, phone number, school name (if applicable), essay title, language, and word count. Send to:

Visit the GOI peace website to submit online. The essay should be submitted as a DOCX or PDF file, including a cover page, applicant’s name, and essay title.

Awards

1st contestant will receive a Certificate $900 and a gift. 1st prize winners will be invited to the award ceremony in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2020 and will receive the Minister of Education Award. (The organizer will cover travel expenses.)

2nd contestant will receive a Certificate, $450 and a gift

3rd contestant will get a certificate and gift

All prize winners will be announced on October 31, 2020 (Japan time) on this website. Certificates and gifts will be mailed to the winners in December 2020.

Deadline – Entries must be received by June 15, 2020 (23:59 your local time).

National Peace Essay Contest

the National Peace Essay Contest is open to students attending high school in the U.S U.S. citizens attending high school overseas are also eligible for this award. Students must be in grades nine through twelve at the time of application. Application requirements for the National Peace Essay Contest are:

First-place state winners receive $1,000 and are eligible to move to the next step. I.e. compete for national awards of $10,000, $5,000, and $2,500 for first-, second-, and third-place, respectively. Also, all first-place state winners are invited to attend an all-expense-paid awards program in Washington, D.C, in June. All awards are made on an annual basis and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000. Deadline for the application is on March 15
